Ticker symbols are widely use to track financial and other information on publically traded companies. But did you know you can also use a company’s ticker symbol to display its jobs on your Job-a-matic site? This is especially helpful if your job site is focused on a specific location or industry, and you are interested in displaying job content from larger corporations in that area.
To set your backfill by ticker symbol, preface each symbol with “Ticker:” For example, Apple’s ticker symbol is AAPL, so to set your backfill to display jobs at Apple, enter “Ticker:AAPL” in the “with all the words” field on the Job-a-matic backfill configuration page.
You can create a set of companies to include by inserting a capitalized “OR” between ticker symbol searches. Example: “Ticker:APPL OR Ticker:MMM”
However, don’t overuse the OR function; we recommend stringing no more than 3-4 ticker symbol searches together for the best performance.
Here is a bonus hint: If you’d like to also include jobs from a company that isn’t publically traded, you can enter “company:” followed by the company name in the “with all the words” field. For companies that have multiple words, insert the company name in quotation marks. This company search can be used in conjunction with ticker searches, for example: Ticker:Apple OR company:“Simply Hired”
